Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint to a new Shared Chair for The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust. The Shared Chair will initially lead the Board of Directors and Councils of Governors at Newcastle and Northumbria and transition to the Chair role at Gateshead at an agreed point in time.

Together with North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust these organisations have formed a collaborative working arrangement known as the Great North Healthcare Alliance. The Alliance partners recognise that working together more closely can deliver significant benefits to patients and staff within each organisation and across the region.

The Shared Chair will be a challenging, but rewarding role, with the ability to have a direct impact on patient care, outcomes and experience through the facilitation of effective collaboration and decision-making.

The Shared Chair will support the development of a single, unified voice for the organisations, making decision-making more streamlined and increasing the strategic influence of the Alliance regionally and nationally.  This will strengthen our ability to develop collective plans which benefit our patients.

We are seeking a resilient and proven leader for this unique position to Chair the Boards of the three Trusts and work together with the Chief Executives to harness each other’s strengths, share innovation and open up opportunities for delivering our clinical and support services in the most effective and responsive way.

The Shared Chair will help us to build on the strong existing collaboration and partnerships, and offers the opportunity to make a real impact within the communities served by the three Trusts.

They will deliver cohesive leadership across the three organisations, supporting effective patient pathways, better patient outcomes, reducing health inequalities and facilitating the sharing of best practice and technologies.

This appointment will be made by the Councils of Governors of the three Trusts.
